CNC wire cutting machine

CNC Wire EDM is electrical discharge machining. The machine works around electrical discharges, electrical "spark" actions, and conductive materials. CNC Wire EDM machines have ultra-high tolerances and precision unmatched by other CNC machines. If you need a specific part that is precisely matched in the micron range, a CNC wire EDM will bring it closer to perfection than any other CNC machine.

For the most part, CNC wire EDM machines are housed in temperature-controlled positive airflow chambers. These machines are more like cleanrooms than true machine shops. The environments in which these machines work help push the machines beyond the manufacturer's intended limits, from which operators can squeeze greater precision.

Computer numerical control technology has undoubtedly become a driving force in the machining industry. Machines developed using this technology, combined with robotics, push the limits of the sky in the machining industry. No other CNC machine proves this like the CNC Wire EDM machine.

The technology involved in a CNC wire EDM is comparable to a band saw; however, unlike a band saw, this machine has no "blade". This machine cuts using coiled brass wire as small as 0.002" in diameter. There is never any pressure on the wire or on the material being cut: in fact, the wire never touches the material. The cut comes because of the friction between the wire and the material. There will be sparking action in the gap. This all means that you will no longer need to use clips to hold the material in place. Use "crazy" glue and you will be fine.

Using CNC Wire EDM machines, it is practically possible to achieve precise tolerances that would be difficult to manufacture in any other situation. With this machine, there are no cutting "tools" to wear, so the machine's ability to produce multiple products to the same precise tolerances is very possible and easy to produce.

Very skilled CNC mechanics are required to operate these machines to the high standards described. Attending CNC machining school will only teach you the basics of CNC machining; however, you can learn this type of precision machining through experience. On-the-job learning is possible. It might take a while to get there, but in the end, it will be worth it.

If you have any other questions about the CNC Wire EDM process or the machine itself, please contact your dealer or supplier. They will be able to assist you further by answering any questions you may have. Detailed instructions and explanations are available upon request. A dealer, if any, will help you determine the type of machine you need for your business and can help point you in the right direction.
